Riga Motor Museum is the largest Museum of vintage cars and mechanical transport in the Baltic countries, which was founded in 1989.

The purpose of the Museum is to collect, exhibit and explore the rare cars and mechanical transport, to study the history of their appearance, use and development, including to show the development of the history of the automotive industry in Latvia.

Riga Motor Museum is the opportunity to see such samples Latvian automotive engineering, as fire truck "Russo-Balt", created Riga wagon factory cars Ford models Vairogs V8 and Junior-10, as well as the products of the Riga bus factory (RAF) is a well – known vans and passenger bus RAF – 976.

In the Kremlin collection motor Museum you can look at the limousines of the highest class leaders of the USSR, luxury imported cars of the 30-ies of the last century, and also injured in the accident Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow L. I. Brezhnev.

In the exposition of the Museum presents as popular worldwide Ford – T (1919) and Chevrolet Superior mod. "F" (1924), and less well-known models, such as released in Germany 1924 Selve 12/50 Tourer. In the exhibition you can see German cars built in the second half of the 30-ies of the last century. For example, a sports Roadster BMW-328, a small mass of the Mercedes-Benz 170V, as well as exclusive Horch – 853.

In the exposition hall of the first floor presents military equipment, which fought on the Eastern front. The collection contains military motorcycles and cars Germany and the Soviet Union, and received in 1942 under lend-lease from the United States truck Studebaker US 6, light SUV Willys MB, Harley-Davidson WLA 42 and Indian 741 B.

In the permanent exhibition of Riga motor Museum have the opportunity to view a unique collection of racing and record-breaking cars. Car Auto Union Typ C/D (Germany 1938) developed for mountain competitions, one of the most unique exhibits like this collection, and the entire Museum.

Riga Motor Museum came into possession of many well-preserved Soviet cars that occupy an important place in the Museum, starting with the first Muscovite and ending with the various models of Lada. The Museum's collection adequately shows cars, Kolesova in his time on the roads of the USSR.

In connection with the reconstruction of the Riga motor Museum is not available for visitors on April 15, 2013.

Reconstruction envisages to increase the area of exposure, to improve the energy efficiency of buildings, to implement modern solutions to create maximum comfort for visitors and to provide convenient access for all, including for people with disabilities. The project envisages to preserve the historic character of the Riga motor Museum and the layout, placing a new, modern and interactive exposition.

Construction work on the building of the Riga motor Museum is nearing completion, and will soon begin housewarming and create a new exhibition, which runs until spring 2015. From 1 September 2014 the Museum will not be available for public viewing until the opening after reconstruction.
